About Hole in the Family
Hi and welcome to Hole in the Family, a community and space for those who have experienced sibling loss.
We are four siblings whose eldest sister, Carrie, died nearly ten years ago. At the time, it seemed like no one talked about what it was like to lose a sibling , and we certainly didn’t know how to start the conversation.
That’s why we started Hole in the Family. If you are here because you have lost one of the people you expected would nag and bully and pester and love you for the rest of your days, welcome. We are glad you are here and hope you find some comfort in knowing we are here, too.
Every week, we plan on publishing an essay about what it felt like to lose a sibling, beginning with our own. Given that Carrie, our boss (y) leader and head planner, isn’t around to enthusiastically tell us what to do while we lazily wait for our instructions, and the rest of us have (cheekily?) self-diagnosed ADHD, we hope we won’t disappoint.
Love from the four of us, in order 😀

p.s. Please reach out to a therapist, counsellor, psychiatrist or other trusted professional for help in dealing with your grief. It helped us immensely.
